Ayutthaya Historical Park

About

Explore Ayutthaya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, on a small-group guided tour with lunch. Tour the ancient temples and ruins, and learn about the historical significance of the Siamese Kingdom's second capital. Travel from Bangkok in an air-conditioned vehicle or meet your guide at the first stop, Wat Lokaya Sutha. See its giant reclining Buddha, one of the few intact structures remaining in the area. Head to Wat Phra Si Sanphet, part of the former royal palace complex where royalty held religious ceremonies. Next, visit Wat Mahathat, one of the city’s oldest temples, known for a Buddha head entwined in the roots of a Bodhi tree. The temple once housed a sacred Buddha relic. Enjoy lunch at a local Thai restaurant, where your guide can recommend popular local dishes. Finish at the riverside Wat Chaiwatthanaram. Walk around the temple grounds and admire its architecture, influenced by Cambodia’s Angkor Wat complex.
