Historic Center Essentials: Mexico City Downtown Walking Tour
Historic Center Essentials: Stories in the Streets. Mexico City’s Historic Center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is where the city’s story began, from the Mexica capital of Tenochtitlan to the colonial capital of New Spain and the modern metropolis of today. Meet your SECTUR-certified guide in the Zócalo, one of the largest public squares in the world, and step inside the Metropolitan Cathedral. From there, walk past the ruins of the Templo Mayor and through the streets of downtown to the Palacio de Bellas Artes. Between the big landmarks, your guide takes you to hidden spots most visitors walk right past, with a few stops inside along the way. This isn’t a list of dates. You’ll hear the stories of the city and of Mexico, from ancient traditions and colonial life to the Revolution and everyday life today. You’ll also get insider tips on which museums to visit, where to eat and what else to do during your stay. Relaxed pace, about 2 km (1.2 miles). Available in English and Spanish.
